Native & Shade Garden
Self-Guided Walking Tour
Among the many gardens at Lyndale Park along Lake Harriet Parkway there are two mature white pines on the north side of the road which stand in front of two gardens, a native and a shade garden. Together they comprise a woodland garden, a place of cultivated and natural beauty characterized by understory and mature trees, shrubs, grasses, native and cultivated plantings. We would like to share these gardens with you.
In 2020, 21 garden club members worked 346 hours, over 26 days, in the Native/Shade gardens.
Directions to Garden
The native and shade gardens are located midway between Lake Harriet and Dupont Avenue (King’s Highway) on Lake Harriet Parkway, a short walk from the parking lot through the Peace Garden, past other gardens to the white pines.
